stargates

when looking at the intro move it baseacly says stargates are dumb altho if other races had stargates theay obviesly must of had hyperdrive becaus stargates are more advanced than hyperspace and stargates should still be avalable so trade and sending ships to the homeworld for backup are easier

i whant to make this mod my self mut (and this is a really big BUT)
I HAVENT GOT A CLUE HOW TO MAKE MODS
so can enyone help

becaus stargates are more advanced than hyperspace

Only in stargate sg-1 and stargate atlantis. In GC2 stargates r very, very slow. In GC 2 it can take decades to pass through a stargate. Hyperspace is far faster.

Stargates would require new game mechanics, not just some extra improvements or parts, and thus can't be modded in.

And in the GC storyline, Stargates are not instant-travel. They were about half as fast as the first hyperdrive, very expensive to build, and very power hungry. The humans though finally perfected fusion power, which no other race had done. With that extra large amount of power available on every ship, they were able to build a miniature version of the stargate technology on every ship, thus creating hyperdrive.

still what if you made a mod and it is set in an primitive poeple who only have stargates

some anomiles have a wormhole. couldnt you stop the anomiles from disappearing?

I guess this would send all AI players mad though with their survey ships darting for the wormhole over and over again.

good idea what if a mod was made so a starbase could be built around a wormhole so
it cannot close so enemy ships cannot pass only friendly forces

You can only mod what is governed by the data files. That means no stargates, no non-disappearing anomalies, and no new types of starbase modules (you can make new modules, but only with the existing types of effects).

i would say that it isn't that the stargate is slower than hyperdrive it is getting a ship to the next system that is slow

ie right now our fastest rocket can get us to prox. centaury in about 50,000 years even tho it is only 3.5 light years away and that isn't even the main star in the system

i think its worth a try to egleast try and make such a mod so wormhole stay for good and starbases can be guilt around them

no, if kryo is saying you cant mod something like that, then you cant, because he knows the files and knows what can be changed and what cant be, and my mind is very open.... however it doesnt change anything, modifying that stuff cant be done like that

well tere must be some way to get a ship from point A to point B quicker than hyperwarp III coz by the time i get to my homeworld to stop an invation its to late

No there isn't, end of story. There is NO WAY to mod in things like that.

Also: it was the stargates themselves that were slower. Moving in a stargate, a ship moved at half of hyperdrive speed, 0.5 parsec/week.

Try building more than one engine on a ship. That makes it faster.

How fast do u want? I have ships that can travel 70+parsecs/week, thats virtually fully across a large size galaxy. Pretty cool if u ask me and much better than a stargate.

You could always try modding in new engine technology that goes faster then hyperwarp III. Or you can edit your race config and give yourself say 1000% to speed. I did this trying to see how to create new races and gave myself like 100% to speed and my colony ship moved like 18 parcecs and I think my flagship was moving 27 p/per turn. It might not be the same as actually having a stargate but you could always use your imagination.

I think the reason they dont add jumpgates is the fact that by the end of the game your pretty much guaranteed to be able to cross the biggest map in about 5 turns (more like 3 if you have enough engines). Also I belive the designers probably figured stargates would just screw everything up as far as the AI goes. Once stargates are available the AI would need to watch for these and try to counter them as well as ordinary ships. The point is that there really wouldn't even be a point for individual ships any longer, you could just build a giant fleet of ships that move 1 parsec per turn and use stargates to move them anywhere on the map Example:Turn 50: Your fleet of 12 dreadnaughts, 30 battleships and 50 cruisers is sitting defending your home planet. Turn 51: Your fleet is now in orbit of the enemy homeworld and destroys the weak (compared to that fleet) defense fleet. Turn 52: Enemy Homeworld now under your control. Main enemy fleet reaches one of your worlds. You send your fleet to that world and stomp the enemy.

Just too godlike, I'd say just edit the files and give yourself the speed increase and anything else you want rather then stargates.

Here is an idea. What IF you had lets say a battleship, with 3 Hyperwarp III's, normally that would take you very far but what if it only took you 2 sectors? that would make space travel take very long. But that is where the stargate would come in, Each race can start out with a Stargate, now that could make it so each race could instantly invade ones home sector right? Wrong. In order to jump to an ememy races stargate you would have to know the exact location, and once you did, it would be put into your stargate allowing you access to enemy stargate. Kindof like needing to know the password. and just because you can jump to an enemy stargate, doesnt mean they would know where you came from, and here is another idea....
what if there was a sheild device you can build on a central planet that would connect around your stargate and to other planets with this shield device making it so that nothing can get into your systems unless knowing the location of the stargate. Making a bottleneck for the enemy forces to pass through. and if you couldnt get close enough to the stargate to find its wearabouts because of the sector sheilds, well that is what long range scanners are for

i wish i had the know how to do all of that haha but its all just a idea

still, it would be nice to be able to construct some kind of "Warp Highway". Much like if you built a line of military starbases with + to speed maxed, but something a little more "narrow" (a single LINE between 2 starbases, for example) and more efficient.

You know, something that would be able to link your far-stretched empire, so that everybody would feel "a lot closer to everybody". 50% speed increase, or something like that...

EDIT: Or between you territory and an ally's, so it would be much easier to send reinforcement...

what if a mod was created so that eny starbase can have a new component that locks onto your ship and chuks it to eny starbase that has the same component

Stargate "emulation" will be interesting for Dark Avatar.
We can imagine a Stargate improvement on planets, yes, for transport people and ships.
But we can imagine a starbase component, like the SG-1 season 9/10 Super Gates.
And the game mechanic is in fact cloth to the black holes anomalies...
