| Can someone explain me, why only three games force this error? GC II, Rise of Legends and now a new one: Company of heroes (beta Demo). Other games (Far Cry, Battlefield 2, Half Life 2) running normal, without problems. |
They probably just handle things a certain way where the other games do it differently. Just a quick check shows that RoL uses Miles Sound System as GC2 does. So it could just be that you have a poorly coded audio driver that does not get along with the version of Miles used in these games.
| It seems like an software problem for me. whats your opinion? |
As I said, from the debug stopping just when it is supposed to initialize the sound, your sound driver is likely at fault. The simple way to test it is to simply disable the onboard sound.
If you cannot disable it in BIOS, it may also work if you disable it in windows. Try following these steps (I will give all names in english, so you'll need to use the german equivalent):
Go to Control Panel->System Properties.
On the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button.
There should be a section with an icon of a speaker named Sound, Video, and Game Controllers.
Under that section there should be an item named 'C-Media Rear Panel Audio' or something very similar.
Right click that, hit Disable. You should be prompted to reboot your computer, do so then try running GC2.
If that does not work you can turn your sound back on by going back to the same place and re-enabling it, then rebooting again.
