Gamestopper - possible math error?

go from most powerful to least powerful Race in two turns???

I'm new, but have searched the forums as best I can, so please forgive if this is covered elsewhere.

I have started several small games (3 other Races), and they all have had the same problem at one point or another - I manage to be the most powerful Civ at every quarterly review until at some point, without any change in my strategy and still with a significant lead over the other Civs in EVERY area including Influence, Council votes, Ships built, Area of space occupied, overall Population, 95% approval, and the following endgame stats:

Society 466, Technology 166, Economy 454, Military 0 (my rating)
-- the next highest Civ is rated:
Society 384, Technology 35, Economy 213, Military 0 (next highest Civ)

So, please tell me why the game puts my civ at the BOTTOM of the quarterly list, and if I do an endgame analysis at that point I get notified of total defeat with the fillowing Overall:
my Civ - 350 Overall points
next highest Civ (based on individual numbers above) - 800 overall points

Is it possible that if my points go over 1000, they get truncated? That is what appears to be happening, so please tell me if those numbers have some other meaning. It is frustrating to go from 1st place to last in a couple of turns without knowing what I may be doing wrong.

You have to get a dev's word on the possible score truncation, but you're likely only listed at the bottom of the 'most powerful civs' listing because you have 0 military rating. That particular list is based only on military rating, so even if you're an economic and cultural powerhouse you'll rank poorly if you have no ships.

How is this a gamestopper? I don't even read those ranking since we don't really know how they're calculated...

It's not the rankings that I'm commenting about - I've only used that endgame info as a way of showing my points at the time the error occurs - BTW all the other Civs have 0 military too at that point.

The gamestopper is that from that point on if I continue IN GAME the calculations used to determine successful outcomes of things like making good deals on trading technologies, alliances etc. they all seem to be based on that "power" rating and as I said above - in a matter of a couple of weeks my Civ goes from the strongest (by far) to the weakest (by very far) - apparently due to the fact that my stats go so high that they get truncated. From that point on the game is unplayable because all the calculations based on your Civ's power (influence, whatever) are worthless.

I have more ships, colonies and starbases than any other Civ - scouts and defenders, so I don't know why military is 0.

Also, if the ONLY criterion for power is MILITARY, then WhyTF does this game bother with economy, trading, etc?

Sounds like your not really building any military ships. You might be designing ships with only cargo hulls that only have 1 HP. You might need to research techs that let you build military ship hulls that have HPs. That's the only thing that would cause you to have a military rating of 0 that i can think of. Also do your defenders have any offence -- or are they just 100% defense?

Thanks for the info. You may be right about the offensive capabilities even though I have 3 defenders and others just have 1 at this stage of the game.

I think I had built at least two of my defenders before I had researched any weapons. I'm still figuring out the upgrade process and how to manage those costs, so I should check that out. - thanks

BTW - I upgraded to the v1.3 beta and the problem resolved itself in the next turn - I'm on top of the list again, and everybody loves (and fears) me!
