Cannot get Metaverse working

I have made a Metaverse account, and created a character for it, http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=9585. When I run GalCiv2, and click the Metaverse button, I am asked to login. I login to my account, and the game tells me I need to create a character, which I have already done, what can I do to make the game see my character?
