Galciv2 has glitched itself to death.

I reinstalled well trying to fix another bug(details in another post). And now it has glitched up. I cant play the game. It asks me to activate my game and it wont take my serial. Heres the debug:

Delete the file "sig.bin" in your games installation directory and try it again.

Urgh... You didn't delete the sig.bin file? Then galciv2 isn't glitched, you've made a mistake.

c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2\sig.bin

Delete that and reinstall again.

Go to SDC and let SDC download and install the game. They have a record of you SNs etc.

Wrong. If you didn't have a sig.bin, the game wouldn't let you patch it, ever. It doesn't show up on search either, so you need to root around for it.

That or let SDC do it. But next time you try and reinstall, remove that first.

Doesn't matter. If you've ever downloaded a patch, you have a sig.bin. I bought it in a store, but have a sig.bin

I am sorry, but you are wrong. I have tried the following:
- disconnet my computer from the internet
- rename the sig.bin file
- launch the 1.2 retail update

I got a message stating that an activation was required, but I clicked OK and the update has continued. Sure the game needs the activation before starting, but the game allow to patch even if the sig.bin isn't here.

And this is perfectly normal since the patch NEEDS to be applied in order to have the activation process started (there was no activation on the 1.0 retail update) and the generation of the e-mail for activation on offline computer.

I am sorry but the sig.bin file contains information specifics to your computer and is generated by Stardock on their servers. And the computer downloading the patch may not be the computer where the game is installed.
And you have a sig.bin because:
- you have downloaded a 1.10 retail update patch or later since those updates require activation
- your computer is linked to internet and have done the update smoothly
- or you have updated your game through SDC and it takes care itself of activating the product after having updated it

AFAIK, no sig.bin only allows you to patch to 1.0x, or 1.1 now 1.2 is out. If he's been patching to the most recent version, he will have a sig.bin somewhere. If not, then that's why it isn't working. Reinstall via download forces it to activate.

Well, that is precisely his problem: he has patched to 1.2 but the activation process has failed.

If you are using Stardock Central you can right-click on the product and attempt to activate without reinstalling

So there is no need to redownload the whole 1.2 GB
