Two ideas actually
1) Have a way to select multiple ship designs in the shipyard window and obsolete the whole lot of them in one click, rather than click, obsolete, click, obsolete, click, obsolete, etc etc etc
2) An option to just not have core warships show up in the shipyard/build list. I don't use them and they clutter up the list.
