What happened to the high-res textures???

Shortly before the release of GalCiv2 we were told that there would be high-res textures for high end graphic cards "soon" (I think "end of March" were the exact words... also something about them being more or less done and only needing to be released).

So, where are they?
It's not *that* important but I like to get what I'm promised prior to release.

dont think they realized how many ppl would want other stuff also how many peopel can actually make use of these high res textures? i know my 6600GT wont be able to and i think that the majority of the TBS players wont ahve the hardware to do it but improving gameplay will help all no matter what your computer is like

What is so low-res about the textures that you need higher-res ones?

It isn't a question of need, not for me anyway. But if I can get something that looks better, then I take it!

I have probably the best mid-range video card - a 6800GS CO SE - but I doubt that I would use the higher res textures. It does pretty well, but I think even higher grade textures would really bog it down.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't try them, to be sure. And it might even prompt another video card upgrade to the high end if I liked the look enough. It would have to be a pretty big improvement, though.

I don't think we actually NEED them but they would be cool! I know I would load em up and use them.
