So, I just got a Gateway FPD2185W TFT LCD Wide-Screen Monoitor. One of the nifty features of the monitor is that it can raise up and turn sideways in a portait set-up, making the viewing screen taller than it is wide. Well, I downloaded all the new drivers, updated my system, and got set to play Gal CIv in widescreen. Flipping through the possible resolutions, I saw (perhaps mistakenly) that some seemed support this portait mode, so set it up to try that. Restarting in the new display, nothing came up but a black box. Now when I load the game (in portait mode) nothing comes up, and when I try to laod with my monitor set normall (horizontal widescreen) a black box that covers much of the left half of the screen appears but nothing else. In both cases I have to click the half still visible Windows set-up bar at the bottom of the sceen or Ctrl-Alt-Del out.

So my question. Is there a way to change the video displays without entering the game or otherwise restore defaults? I've tried reinstalling the game twice now to no effect. Any advice would be Greatly appreaciated. Thanks!
