Why does the game just end?

Does anyone know why the game just ends sometimes? It happens for victory sometimes and other times for defeat. I don't have any warnings and I'm not going to satisfy any victory conditions in blank number of turns. Is there a time/turn limit on certain games? Usually happens when I'm trying to research most of the tech tree and I've already "won" the game. I've made certain that I won't achieve an influence victory by limiting my influence. Thanks.

Its the AI. It so sensitive it knows that you are top class player and calculates it hasn’t got cat in hells chance of beating your superb tactics so it flicks the switch mainly because the AI is also a bad loser.

I'm guessing it's a 'tech victory' then... If you research the technology 'Technological Victory' you will get a... Technological Victory.

Just disable the three additional victory options (cultural, political, technological) for the real thing, and you'll be fine.

It would be nice if there was some warning that Victory was approaching. Some all out effort where the opposing Empire threw everything it had at you... you know... something to make the game... memorable?

It would also be awesome if there was an option we could enable AFTER we have won that allowed the game to spawn some sort of extra-galactic invasion where you could have one last BLOW-OUT and see your Fleets you've worked so hard on in all their glory.

It tries to, if it isn't cowering in fear.

have some senerio that takes a end game save and pits you aginst a massive drealord invasion of the galaxy!

btw, back on topic: Are you playing the demo? I hear that it has a 3 year limit or something. Otherwise shouldnt be an issue. What kind of victory ending movie do you get?
