Disregard the 1st question in my previosu post about 1.2,jus a suggestion for 1.3..apologies if this has been mentiond by someone else before...i relly hate it when other civs ships (exept freighters) trvel through my territory...i dont wnat to start war's because it will damage my economy. if im trading with that particular civ..to counter this before a ship trvaels through another civs territory they should seek permission to pass the border,and upon passing they should pay a passage tax..but if thier allies the tax should be waived but persmission still should be asked..any opinions on this???

Think of it, how would you control it? Create dutystations all over the galaxy? It's open space, no mointains, not roads where you could collect the money.

I like the idea. I can also imagine that fanning out into sneak tactics. Maybe have certain things in place that will either hide you from the owners of the sector you're trespassing, OR imagine what happens when all of a sudden you are caught trespassing. Could be awesome.

The only downside I could really imagine to your idea would be maintaining trade with those who are several sectors away (and therefore seperated from you by another, non-allied race). Then again, as I typed that sentence, I thought of several ways to work around that. Good suggestion.

There is no territory in Space you could possibly control. It makes no sense at all - there is no way to control a vast amount of pure nothing. To get you an idea about the non scaled distances we are talking about here (one parsec is app. 19,173,511,600,000 miles from one side to the other), go to Link. Tell me how it would be possible to control even a very small part of 1 parsec

As the above poster said 'passage taxes' only make sense on planets where you got terrain and the appropriate distances. In Space it's simply ridiculous.

What you call 'your territory' is in fact just your sphere of influence.
I think It's been mentioned by the devs that this idea wasn't implemented by said reason.

If you desperately need territoriy, Civ IV is your game.
