Question about United Planets

Ok, two things...if there is a search button on this forum, let me know for future reference.

Second, I really like the United Planets Council, but I was wanting to shorten the period they meet from 52 weeks, to maybe 10 or 20. Is there a way to change this that anyone knows of? I just thought it'd be more interesting for them to meet more than once a year, maybe once a month or something. Thanks ahead.

well compared to the UN in Civ4 which pops up every couple turns and becomes really annoying, I'd prefer the yearly UN council meeting.

also, once a month would be 4 turns which is 4 weeks, that would become annoying.

That's fine if it's annoying to you and such, but it is still something I'm interested in changing....if there is a way to change the time the council meets, please let me know.

well, GalCivII is meant to be modded, so there is probably a way to mod it, maybe changing something with the XLM file. but I'm new here and know next to nothing about creating mods.

I'm just saying that I prefer the years end UN meeting which is every 57 turns or something and at least you get a heads up that the UN is meeting the next week.

Yes, the Search button is below the Recent Posts window on the left hand column. For all intents and purposes it is useless because it only searches TITLES of the thread rather than than the bodies of the messages. And very few titles are descriptive enough to be very useful.

While being able to increase the number of UP gatherings could have some interest, what is more important is the ability to try and set the agenda for the meeting as well as using diplomacy as a tool to get your agenda across or to try and sway your allies to vote the way you want them to. You can trade for influence points in the Diplimacy screen but when we are talking about 100's of thousands of IPs I would rather just have my allies vote with me than pay to siphon off a measly few hundred IPs.

There could very well be a way to edit the xml code to get UPs more often, I would think quarterly would be okay, as long as there are enough resolutions written up for the game (don't really want to see the prison planet one 2 or 3 times a year)

The search button is below the recent posts and above the web poll. The thing that says "search". The meeting is nothing to do with the .xml, and since it is part of the game, probably coded into the game. If it is then you won't be able to mod it. If it isn't, you could probably mod it with difficulty and a knowledge of modding .x format. But I'm pretty sure it's unmoddable.

I've been looking in the xml files, the only file I've seen that has anything to do with the Council is UPIssues.xml under english, and all this is is info on all the issues that can be brought up during a UP session. If anyone finds anything, let me know, till then I'll keep looking.

Looked all over for it, could not find it, thanks guys for your help. I've decided thtat every 12 weeks in game I'll do the United Planets code (Ctl + V). Unorthodox, but at least I'll still get the shortened time length I wanted. Thanks again.
