That Solid Dread Lords Mission, Need Help Badly

ok in short i've had the game afew days and got the hang of most of it, but i've got up to the mission in the dreadlords campaign where you and 3 allys have to capture the dreadlord world at the top of the map.
but so far i've had about 20 attempts and got my ass handed to me everytime, the 3 things i've tryed is to get large ships asfast as i can (that worked till they started useing battleships that do 60 damage), i've tryed getting as many planets as i could, but i couldn't defend or support them,
and i've tryed just keeping a stable economy coz i can't keep my production at 100% for long enough

any help would be great from anyone who's doen this mission

I've been unable to get past this mission also, the Dread Lord fighters with 200+ atk and 20 defense make it incredibly hard to survive, let alone defeat their planetary defenses. At first I was doing well, using fleets of small ships to swarm their ships one at a time, but once they started sending shielded ships this strategy failed. Now their ships are nigh-invulnerable, what do I do?

mentioned before....

HORDES of tiny tiny tiny ships.

have troop transports nearby planets if they get taken, so you get some juicy uber tech

Never really had any real problems with this level, but here are some things that might help.

1) Keep your allies up to date with all the technologies that you research. Remember, they're your allies so it's not like these techs will be used against you. This also helps your allies serve as a stronger buffer (buys you time to build up your forces so you can mow over the DLs later.

2) With the DLs, early on you can't match them ship vs ship so make sure you research speed and sensors. After all you don't have to fight if they can't catch you. Also, you don't need to destroy all their battleships, cruisers, etc at first... just their transports which are almost always alone and like your transports have 1HP and no weapons. So start with some fast scouts/interceptors to keep the DLs from taking your planets.

3) If all else fails restart the level on an easier setting.

I think I may have to restart it on easier difficulty, because at this point I can't get more than one ship built before it is destroyed.

i've been doing it on the easiest setting lol,
my main prob last few times i tried is i can't intercept the transports cos they have battleships camping my planets, as soon as i make a ship they kill it

To emphaize, you need multi engine ships with a single weapon taking out transports when spotted. Create a whole swarm of them and just have them jet back and forth in the shipping lanes looking or transports. Fast ships with sensors help as AWACS. Speed also works with the transports .

As soon as you ship is built, move it away from your planet or it will be destroyed. You ALWAYS have time to move it.

At the start I like to force build 2-3 extra fast colony ships and get the three planets in the north west. They don;' seem to be bother much.

Remember to win all you need is the DL planet. They seem to always have something in orbit around it so you will have to defeat it to win. SO either built a who mess of tiny ships and send them at them, or you will have to play the let them take a planet so you can take it back and get their tech game.

thanks for the ips but i've finaly managed to do it

i just spent all my starting money on combat ships and a transport ship, took the closest planet to the DL planet then hit it with everything.
they'd only had chance to make 2 ships so i managed to pull it off, won in like 10 turns lol.

now i just got the final part of the campaign, which should be imence fun lol
