Metaverse Scoring (hehe and i wanted to test out my character ect :)

Im interested to know how the scoring works, so far ive just been going for conquest victories as i assume these give the highest points... sorry for not doing a search but i wanted to see if my metaverse char would post here too thanks for replying anyways

Scoring in the MV is purely based on population and time, the bigger the population and the longer the game the better the score.

In other words its BS!

Other factors are probably involved but not to much extent.

Isn't a shorter game better? I don't mean to make it artificially short like playing tiny galaxy with one opponent, but based on your settings, faster would be better right? If longer games got higher scores, you could get to a point where you practically have won and extent the turns by not acting like signing up the last alliance, etc.

Well in any case, I'd like to learn to post with my character too, I just made one and played a game.

No you can get a silly high score by doing nothing and just clicking turn for 10,000 weeks. A player called AW Trepasser has already done this to prove the fact the MV scoring system is fubar'd. Apparently SD is suppose to be fixing it be have yet too.

Short game with small galaxy will ALWAYS score low. Simply because you don't have a huge number of planets and hence population and you don't usually play for long and so the length is short.

It is already fixed now that 1.1 is out.
Also, all old scores will be recalculated with the new formula so it doesn't matter if some people abused the previous system, it will only mean that they get a much lower score after the recalculation.

I Hope the old scores are recalculated soon.

My 65 k for Gigantic/Crippling/Only 5 years is a joke

Huge/Painful/5 Years (alliance victory since I was allied with one smaller race at the end) netted me a measly 17k.

I could have played 3 Large galaxy games in that same amount of time and gotten 30k a piece for each with a conquest victory.

You know, you shouldn't post BS if you have no idea.

Whatever BS means? I suppose it's bull shit?


Anyway, the system works as follows:

The scoring system works as follows (in 1.1):

Each turn your population is taken, then multiplied by the difficulty level to the 1.1 power. That amount is then divided by the game turn. The final result is taken to the square root.

Then your research score is taken into account in a similar way.

And economic history.

And military history.

Overall, population probably counts a bit more than the others.

What's new in 1.1 is the difficulty level being taken to the 1.1 power and that this overall score is then divided again by the game turn.

However, so that scores don't get ridiculously small, we are multiplying 1.1 games by 10. So there will be an advantage to using 1.1 over 1.0x at that point.

That makes more sense. I hadn't looked into the scoring since I would rather enjoy playing the game than try to milk the system for points... Although I guess more competitive people get their kicks that way. I prefer to emerse myself in games to escape the drudgeries of reality.
