I like to play gigantic galaxies with abundant planets. Now some AI's like the Arceans and Iconians are incredible in these maps and dominate. The rest are decent and can grab about half what the Arceans and Iconians can. The Terran AI is dismal in large galaxies. In a recent game I played where everyone was bright and the Terran AI was gifted (full AI + econ) and the Terrans had an entire corner to themselves with a juicy class 26 planet close by around four years into the game all the other AI's have between 50-100 planets and have colonized everything around them. The Terrans have 20 and didnt colonize the class 26 until 3 years into the game even though it was only 2 parsecs fron Earth and they had colonized a class 5 or something right next to it about a year into the game. They also have many other good quality worlds around that they could easily colonize but for some reason haven't while the other AI's quickly grab them. I don't know about smaller galaxies but please look into the Terran AI's performance in huge and gigantic galaxies since it lags far behind the others.
