I just was thinking how much I enjoy the worm holes that take you to another area of the map. And then I thought, what if a ramdom number of those worm holes were permanent. This would add another strategic dimention to the game. You would not only utiles it to your advatage but you would have to defend it against those other races who would want to use it for there nefarius purposes... If these were introduced you would have to alter the game so you could then explore that area of space to a certain degree until you colonised a planet instead of having to go back to friendly space... What do you think?
