Terran's are suppose to be good guys?

Terrans are suppose to be good, but in my games they are always neutral leaning on Neutral. Even on one game they were evil. Why is that?

I usually play a custom race, the Phoenixian Domain who at one time was part of the Terrans. Long story short, my civ broke away because it didn't see eye to eye with the Terran government point of view. They being good, we being evil.

Now, when I play, the Terrans go neutral or evil.. Mostly neutral... Kinda ruins the fun of crushing your old friends for being a goody two-shoe.

Not to spoil your roleplay fun, but looking around Earth now and in its past history humans do appear to be pretty nasty and warmonging.

I believe that the Terrans are neutral.... which is fitting imo.

In most games I have played they have ended up swinging to good... but occassionally I have seen Evil brother Terrans!

Can't edit:

Good: Altarians, Drath, Torians
Neutral: Terrans, Thalan, Arceans, Iconians
Evil: Yor, Korx, Drengin

I'm pretty sure that's how it goes!

Nope - just checked.... both Torians and Drath start half way along the Good side of the bar too.

Good: Altarians, Drath, Torians
Neutral: Terrans, Thalan, Arceans, Iconians
Evil: Yor, Korx, Drengin

This list is accurate. Altarians are aligned at 99/100, while the Drath and Torians are at 75. The neutrals are all 50, the Yor are 25, and the Korx and Drengin are 1. It's kinda weird that the unscrupulous mercenaries are considered more evil than the beings obsessed with the destruction of all organic life, but whatever.

No, not really. See the Korx have no problems exploiting their own population for material gain, and the same with the Drengin. The Yor only want organic life out of the way, they likely aren't "evil" enough to sacrifice their own for material gain.

Thanks for clarifying it. From the ingame story, it seemed that the Terrans were making amends for their past "crimes." There any way to change them so they always good?

I was just referring to their inherent start positions. They can and will change over the course of a game depending on the decisions they select in events. They can also have that special event that radically changes their ethics but thats rare.

Yes, always found it quite strange myself that basicaly evil robots who want to destroy civilization are actually "better" than merceneries who, although greedy, are definetly not for the demise of the galaxy.

Drath good didn't they they arm the Korx to kill off the Altairans???

The Iconians are almost always good when im playin'... perhaps it depends on the other civ's you've chosen for your game as well...

Well.... the Yor perhaps aren't evil by their standards. Perhaps they know no better - they are sentient robots who were perhaps programmed to act that way, thus while their actions are evil they do not have much of a choice so they aren't considered to be as evil as say the Korx who have a free mind and can choose - ignorance and innocence to some degree offset evil action.... like when you were a kid, for example, and you pulled off the wings of insects. It's pretty damn evil to do it but you know no better.

The Drath feel like they were the oppressed, that the Altarians had stolen their world. This explains their actions. Being good doesn't mean you put up with anything, accept every loss and shrug.... you can still fight. As they were not in a position of power, they used the Korx to fight for them. Not necessarily evil.

No.... if you look at the starting ethics of the race - they start with specific ethics everytime (go and load a game and see). Choices made when colonising and through events change those ethics accordingly the same for the AI as for the player.

I didn't say that each race don't start with a predetermined specific ethic... I said that the ethics might change due to the other civ's that you have chosen.

But I agree that the ethics of a civ do change along the course of the game due different events...
