Furthe diplomacy options

Right now, I can't really threaten an empire. I can tell them to do something - make peace, "donate" money to me, give me a system, etc. But I can't say do X or I'll launch a trade embargo, or I'll attack you, or I'll make an alliance with the Altarians, etc. I'd like to be able to threaten the AI and it consider the impact of such a threat in its decsion to say yes or no. I realize this might not be easy, but it would make diplomacy more interesting.

Have you given any thought to this?

I agree, some more options on the diplomacy screen would be nice, not needed mind you, but nice

I wish you had more espionage options than just spying too. I think it was MOO2 that you could recruit spys, and then either assign them missions in the enemy states (steal tech, sabotage, et cetera), or use them for counter espionage to block the action of enemy agents in your turf. There was even a chance that they would get caught and then the empire you sent them to would know it was you that sent them.

Maybe along with the espionage budget slider some mission priorities to set? and maybe a counter espionage slider as well?

I too have also been thinking about asking for more diplo actions. For player interacting with the AI better.

1) Influence - Either base related or not. If you don't stop trying to make our planets revolt, we'll goto war. Response: AI will back off/ dismantle base and possible relations get better or goto war and relations sour.

2) Ships - Space is a big place but you've got too many flying in my systems, back off or be fired upon. Response: same as #1

3) This is the last thing I am giving you for a long long while. So stop begging!

Basically the AI already does/says 1 and 2 to the player. But this is to let the AI know as the player I'm not going to sit and watch him encroach my planets. And 3 is for the nice guy/gal who has given away plenty of ships and tech and is tired of beggars.. sometimes when multiple empires war, minors too, you can get bombarded with requests.

Imperium Galactica 2 had a very similar set up to what you describe. Don't remember having quite that many options in MoO2?

MoO2 had all that. You trained individual spies, and if they weren't assigned a mission, they acted as counterspies, blocking spying and occasionally finding and killing a spy acting in your territory. If assigned to an enemy race, they could be set to sabotage, steal tech, or lay low and just get information.

Threats would be good, perhaps some other forms of agreement as well. As an economist I would be quite keen to see some form of free trade agreement. I would also like the ability to use diplomacy during a UP session, with the option of buying / selling votes with other civilisations eg "Vote for A and I will give you x"
