The game I´m currently playing is going on in a huge setting, with 9 civilizations. For the first time, I chose a lot of "evil" options when colonizing planets, because they gave me huge bonuses (like the scientist that wants to be alone).
Ok, I went into a colony rush and got a planet very close to the Altarian Resistance. And, right in the middle of my territory, there was a 13 grade planet owned by a minor civilization.
Since I colony rushed everywhere, and I shared borders with the Torians, they got no colonies. When they realized they had no more colonies to get, they decided to start a war on me. Ok, it didnt scare me, because it was very early in the game and people barely had ships, and the Torians only had two planets.
I went to conquer the minor civilization planet (Dark Yor). At that moment, I didnt consider myself evil, Hey, I just did it for the bonus. I got the planet and was happy with it.
Until I finaly realized what is the use of the Altarian Super Organizer power. They decided I was a big threat, and decided to wage war on me. Yes, you know that video that says "The Drengin Empire is considered a big threat and the other civilizations have joined in the fight"? Yes, it happened to me, and I was playing as the humans! Almost all the civilizations on the entire fucking universe declared war on me, besides the Yor and the Drengin, who decided it was in their best interests to join the war at my side and conquer the good civs.
So, I got a huge intergalactic war, everyone fighting each other. I managed to get the Altarian ressistance down, the Torians decided to surrender to another civilization because I destroyed one of their ressources mining station, and the Yor and the Drengin are on a war race to see who can conquer more of the universe.
Now the situation is like this: I control 1/3 of the universe, the Yor control another third, and the Drengin control about half of what is left, with the good races being cornered and trying to hold together because there are no good races to surrender too anymore.
But the deal is: I never wanted to be evil! Now Ill have to deal with the Yor and the Drengin owning half of the damn huge universe. Lol, that declaration of war towards me by the entire universe sure was a surprise, and in the future Ill really think if choosing evil choices are worthy just because of the bonus.
