How do I get more minor races without reducing the majors?

As I've read through the forums and also experienced the game, I've seen how the minor races have been toned down in the game. My question is whether there's a way to actually max them out without reducing the number of major races (I have the urge to play a seriously crazy game in a gigantic galaxy). Does anybody know how to swing that?

one guy is constructing a map editor...

maybe that editor will allow you to place more minor races when its released (wich should be soon)

I have like 2 or 3 on a huge(gigantic?) map I was starting to play last night. Pretty sure they are more likely to appear on larger maps than smaller ones.

when cheats are enabled, ctrl+shift+D spawns in a new minor race. It also converts un uninhabitable planet into a class 15 for them to live on. That's what I use.

BTW I'm sure i remember them saying that a minor race could become a major one. What exactly was meant by that?

Probably that, if left alone, and given the right conditions, some minor races can build rather large empires.

Probably that, if left alone, and given the right conditions, some minor races can build rather large empires.


They can't actually colonise planets, so I dont think that's the idea. Perhaps they can by conquest.

Awesome! That'll work just fine. By the way, do you know if it caps out or gives a message when you've enabled all of the minors? Thanks for all the help and tips, guys. May the Snathis rule forever!!!

In one of my GC1 games, the I-Leage destroyed all of the major races. Near the end of it it was just me and the drengin. I spent all of my income on trying to destableise the Drengin, but before I could my remaining systems were dominated by the I-Leage. Since then I try to limit the minor races by going to war and eliminating some of their planets and ships, then I make peace and life goes on.

this is true. it is, however, perfectly possible to give them planets of your own! On a whim I have given minor races all the planets of a defeated imperial foe. They still can't colonise, but they made a great buffer zone to keep the yor off of me til I was ready for them.

My goodness the I-League are nasty. Once they pop up, people's planets start to revolt and join them. I play Yor now, so I don't have to worry about it anymore

Yup the I-League is in GalCiv II... I found that the best way to get more minor races was to issue large ships to the existing ones (several cruiser class ships to the Snathis seems to work well)... once they had smashed some of the major races lots of little guys start coming out of the woodwork...

The I-League is nasty. My last game they ended up being the second most powerful civ. They kicked the snot out all the other minor races, the torians, and the drengin. They also had planets culture flipping to them. They kept complaining about my influence starbases near their space too.

I ran into the Fundementalist at my last game (well.. actually, 2 of my planet betrayed me, and many other planets spawned them), I guess they are something like the I-League? an alliance of "goodies" minor races?
