Just curious if anyone else is in the same boat as me.
Myself? Well I am a game fanatic, strategy games included. I tried out a copy of Gal Cil 1 quite awhile ago and wasn't impressed (didn't get too deep into it however). I could not stand turn based games on the PC. Sure, I love playing Risk and Axis and Allies but board games were a different story. I tried out Civilizations 4 and could not stand it (I know, blasphemy to most PC gamers). So, Gal Civ 2 comes along, and of course I don't think much about it until I start reading into it more. The features sounded very cool, but a turn based game... bah! So I just ignored that it was comming out and looked forward to Empire at War (which I got and actually enjoy quite a bit) and Battle for Middle Earth. Well, I was cruising around Gamespot the other day and saw the review for Gal Civ 2 and was amazed at what a high score they gave it. Soon enough reviews started popping up everywhere praising the game. So I decided to take a chance, purchased an online copy, and downloaded the game. I started cruising around in game, thinking it was just like every other turn based game, and I'd give it a shot. Soon enough one turn ended, another began. A couple hours in, It was the typical "Eh, I'll turn it off after the next turn" line you tell yourself. Twelve hours later, realizing the day had disappeared and my empire was nearly complete I finally turned off the game, nearly at the end of my first game on Gal Civ. I was totally sucked in. The next morning, still addicted, I turned it on and finished up my conquest of the universe before heading to work, beating my first scenario. Now every day since I've got it, I turn it on, boot up what ever game I'm currently on, and fiddle around with it for about an hour at least. Ironically, the reason I mainly got the game was for the ship building feature, however, I spend much more time on maintaining my empire than on building ships. So, just out out of curiousity, anyone else here do the same thing as me and take a chance on this game?
Also, out of curiosity for the other readers, when you are humans what do you typically do: be the good guys, protectors of the galaxy and diplomats to the other races? or do you tend to be the tyrants, with a power lust and want total domination over the other races? (In my case, I'm definatly the kinda guy that gets buddy buddy with the Torians and Alterians, then forms an alliance against the evil aligned races)
