It's really great to see the small guy coming up and making such a name for himself.

I personally enjoy Galactic Civilization 2 a lot better, simply because of the atmosphere and the ability to really create your ships. This game is.. well.. freakin' awesome.

(I never say this about a game either)

Oh, why can't you and Firaxis work together?

I believe they do have some connections with Firaxis. Could be wrong though.

Bah, that's the extent of you working together!? United you could make the hands down deepest bestest TBS ever! I wonder if a mod with civ's sdk could help unite certain features...

No thanks, I'm really not such a big fan of Civ games. Civ 1 was excellent, but then it all went downhill for me. I admit that Civ4 was better than Civ3, but not by much. GalCiv 1 and 2 hit exactly my kind of gameplay - with just a bit of guile I can survive pretty well without usually fighting with anything that moves, something rarely seen in any Civ game, and even then, Civ does it it poorly. GalCiv2 constantly keeps everything interesting with in-your-face surprises, even if you pick the pacifistic approach. It would be great to have even more surprises, like the Dread-Lords or other problems that might surface, but even now it's so much better than anything Civ has to effer to my type of players. The diplomacy model alone is better than the regular gameplay of Civ, IMO.

i thought civ4 was awful tbh, almost every game rule is set up to stop you actually playing eg. if you put down too many citys you instantly run out of money

This means you cant beat the AI by numbers, nor can you beat it by conquering its citys, as after a long and hard war you think your celebrating victory, but mysteriously you have lost because you now have too many citys and no money.... and the battles are seriously stacked in the AIs favour leading to some most unlikely outcomes on the higher skill levels

Civ4 is a joke with pretty graphics, all prensentation ,and it is good in that respect, pretty to look at and nice sound, but as a game it quickly becomes tedious
