Starbase Bonus Not Working?

Economic Base right next to Earth...

I built an economic starbase adjacent to Earth, but when I go into the planet screen, and look at the detailed information, the box that displays starbase bonuses says that there are no starbase bonuses...

This is only my second game of Gal Civ II, and the same thing happened to me during my first game.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Have you added any modules to it? I'm not sure the starbase has any effect till you add a module to it.

Once you start adding production-increasing modules to the starbase, you'll be able to check your Planet Details screen and see how much they are helping your planet.

The real question should be "Do starbase modules stack on planets AND bases" i.e. can u build 2 military bases close together in the same influence ring that they have and get the bonuses on both bases and the planets?

This post is going to sound a lot worse than I intended. Here it goes...

Beware ANY screen in this game that gives you statistics related to production, but not spending.

Unfortunately not every display in the game accurately accounts for things such as bonuses and the like. You usually have to look at your production on a planet (number of hammers/shields/beakers) AND the amount of money spent BEFORE and AFTER activating the bonus in order to see what is going on.

For example, build your factory on a manufacturing bonus and the bonus is not displayed anywhere, but it does show up in the form of increased production and spending. IMO the game does a bad job of letting the player know when a bonus is 'something for nothing' compared to when the player's capacity is increased, giving you the opportunity to spend more and get more hammers/beakers/etc. And in some unfortunate cases, it doesn't even state that a bonus is in effect.

Naustghoul asks a great question... my advice is to either do a quick sandbox game or (if the situation is not easily re-created) turn on cheats to test out your scenario, and carefully note all the statistics you can before and after applying bonuses....

Ah, thanks, Citizen techn0mage. I was wondering about the terrain bonuses. I was thinking they weren't doing anything either.

Just to make sure I'm tracking, if a research bonus is on a tile, any type of research building built there will receive the bonus, right? And the display won't show more beakers, but the economy management screen will reflect the added cost for producing the extra beakers?

And as for starbases, I need to add some modules first? What about mining starbases, do they ever show up in the detailed planet screen? I put plenty of mining modules on those starbases, but the bonuses havent showed up in the planet details display.

Mining starbases effect your whole empire, not single planets. You will see the bonus on the Civilization Manager - Stats and graphs screen.
