This is getting old.Unlocking ships and ship hulls.

Tiny galaxy.Crippling difficulty.Thalan,Drengin,Iconowhatever there called.Lots of trading peaceful,holding my own in all categories except military.I had enough production to grind out large ships if I could just unlock the freakin hulls.Drengin had frigates,Me, Star fury and defenders.Me and the Thalan start squeezing the Drengin with influence starbases.He flips out after I read on the relations report that he knows what I am doing.Well he went through me like a hot knife through butter.
Unlocking hulls is still a mystery to me.Any help.

Most of what you just said is a mystery to me.

Anyways, hull research goes: Xeno Engineering -> Basic Logistics -> Advanced Hulls, and on from there.

Are you not creating your own custom ships?

To get the better ships you have to go down all of the tech trees. A certian level of weapon, engine, sensor, etc. is required. Most just build there own.

Quite true. The only predesigned ship worth using, IMO, is the Defender, because it's basically a particle beam attached to a cockpit and that's useful for the early game when you don't actually need a Navy but want one so the AI doesn't think you are behind and invade.
