Updating GalCiv2

Hey all,

This aint a 'bug', probably just me being a phool, but thought i'd ask anyway.

When I click the 'update game' button from the game launcher it takes me to the https://www.galciv2.com/Downloads.aspx page. I then click the green download button next to 'Galactic Civilizations Retail update to v1.0X - YES this is the latest update!' and it takes me to a page where i can 'Enable Collectors Edition Content only' and 'Install Galactic Civilizations II & Desktop Enable Collectors Edition (Windows XP or later):'.
I have done both of these.

How do I actually update the game? When I load it, the main menu says 1.0. Is this correct or should it have a revision number next to it?

On the page you mention, there should also be a download for the bonus pack, including the patch. Your game should then say 1.0X on the main menu screen.

Well, all that does is just download the patch. You need to actually install it.

Or just use Stardock Central, click the update button next to Gal Civ 2 and it will do all the work of dowloading and installing for you.

Thanks for the response.

On the download page I found a 'Bought your game in Europe? Click here.' I could then enter my collectors edition key and was e-mailed my second key. Then the downloads site updated and I could see the bonus pack+patch download. Just thought i'd mention that in case any other European customers run into same issue.

Don't feel too bad, I've spent all of last night trying to update the game. Every single file I tried to download, be it Stardock Central, the patch, the collector's edition content or the desktop theme, has been unable to open due to some sort of file corruption at the same place everytime during the install.

And I really wanted to play this game tonight, but I get the "Scrolling Map from Hell" bug that keeps annoying me.
