I just got my retail pre-order GC2 which sadly was the vanilla. Since I previously had pre-ordered and bought the downloadable version I already have all the CE content, and now I have the printed manual. I don't really care about getting a printed tech tree, since I can print out my own from the BMP version that's been posted.

What I would like to see is an official downloadable tech tree that is kept up to date. I have seen posts that mention there are some errors in the BMP version, and also Brad has stated that the new update would contain some new techs. Could someone graphically inclined be pursuaded to build and maintain the downloadable, printable tech tree?

I would humbly make another couple of suggestions as well. While all the pretty little touches like the background image and the borders and screenshots at the corners are nice, they just take up a lot of ink when you print. Also there is a lot of "white space" on the current tree. This is especially true on the long branches of weapons and defenses that don't have any splits at all. Seems to be that these could just be put in one box as a vertical list. The goal I believe should be to get the tree down to an 8.5x11 format, one sheet if possible, two if not. That way anyone could print it out. Also, colors aren't needed since the different areas of tech are almost always on different main branches.

This isn't meant to downgrade the effort put in by the original graphic artist for the release tech tree. It's just that with the promise of new techs to be added (a big thanks to Brad for this!!!) the printed tree becomes out of date.
