Various items for today...
Retail availability continues to expand. We have now gone through our first 40,000 units (not counting downloads) of the game in the first week. All units are now in "the channel" at this point. We're remanufacturing more as fast as possible so that availability doesn't become scarce in the next couple of weeks. Best Buy seems to have it in stock in most stores (except where it's sold out). WalMart has it as well. Fry's has it. EB and Gamestop are still a bit spotty, depends on the store and the region. EB Canada just put in a big re-order. Circuit City apparently has it.

The GalCiv II Wiki is now up. Feel free to go on, edit, add to it. We're also adding to it as we can.

We're giving out Galactic Civilizations II T-shirts to people who send in cool pictures of retail spottings.

See the game at retail, take a picture and show it in THIS THREAD and win a chance to get a free Galactic Civilizations II T-shirt in the civilization of your choice (different shirts for every major Civilization).

In the category of "Cool user created screenshots" category, Metaverse Empire, Templar has put up screenshots of some of the ships they designed in their space navy.

See the whole thread HERE. These all use the included in-game stuff so you can design ships like these without any modding. The Galactic Civilizations II graphics engine uses both specular lighting, bump mapping and nearly every other latest GPU feature in there.

Version 1.0X of Galactic Civilizations II should be out later this week. We think this release will eliminate the last of the "random CTDs" some people had thanks to GPU throttling options. Users who did have that need to definitely keep an eye on this as it's going to be an on-going issue as new games come out that uses these new and apparently heat intensive features. Based on our testing on IRC (#galciv on irc.stardock.com) we're pretty confident that 1.0X will be "the build" that this stuff goes away.

We'll have a full listing of 1.0X's new goodies, features, bug fixes, etc. soon.

The Game Play Example "The Dread Lord Menace" is now up. It recounts a game played against the Dread Lords and how they were dealt with. It also gives an idea of how the game is played and what you can expect.
We're trying to make sure the JOURNALS section is updated every day. We also hope to have an interview with all the GalCiv team up on PowerUser.TV either later this week or early next week.
