One little thing that has frustrated me a little bit has been the lack of options when dealing with the other races. One example that strikes me right off the bat is what happened during a small game I played. I was on friendly terms with everyone for the most part and was going for a cultural win. The altarans called me up once and told me that they were rather concerned about a cultural starbase near their system. They said they did not expect me to move it quite yet, but that they were concerned about it.

My question is this: Why can I not do stuff like that? I would love the option to make a stance on a particular starbase. Maybe its a threatening letter with an ultimatum to remove a particular starbase, or whatever (a request to remove ships from our 'airspace' of cultural influence.. etc). I would really like to see diplomacy opened up a lot more.

Threats, begging for mercy.. and everything in between would go a long way to expanding the scope of the game. I know this is not something for right now, but hopefully down the road this could be looked at as a cool way to increase the life and fun of Gal Civ 2.
