This little bug is really annoying me. I'll try and explain what happens. I like to be nice and tidy, so whenever I design a ship, and it becomes obsolete (engines, weapons become outdated), I like to "delete" the design so when I go to build ships from the quick build list on the galaxy screen, I don't have to sift through a buch of old designs. I know about "obsolete" design, but I just like to use "delete".
What happens is, once i'm done playing and quit out after having deleted a bunch of old designs, then come back another time, all my old designs that were supposed to be deleted are back in the quick build list. They don't show up on the Ship design screen, only in the quick build list. I'll give an example, I design a constructor with better engines than the default one, and I name it "builder", then sometime later, after having researched better engines, I delete the old one and make a newer constructor with the better engines. At this point, the quick build list will only show my newest design, the old one is gone. Now if I quit my game, relaunch the game, load, and open the quick build list, both designs are there, old and new. They're both named "builder" so I thought maybe that had somethign to do with it so I changed the newer one to another name, this didn't work.
I did some digging and found a folder called "ships" in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\. It looks like all the custom ship designs get stored here. I tried manually deleting all the files in this folder, cause I saw names of designs from previous games, not just my current game in it, even though I always "delete" all designs. After reloading a game, and having the problem still occur, I quit out and looked at the contents of the folder again, lo and behold, all the files are magically back! Tried this several times, nothing works.
It gets very annoying to have 10 different versions of the same colony ship or constructor ship in the quick build list to choose from. Since I always name them the same, I'm not even sure which one I actually wanna build. Anyone else having this problem? I see a lot of bugs with ship design, but no one else with this exact problem, wondering if my particular install is bad.
p.s. the files are called "designame.shipclass"
