How to make alliances

?

How do you make alliances is there a button for it or the computer just has to ask you if you would like to be on an allaiance?
If anyone knows can you please tell me im kinda new to the galciv series. Thanks

First you need to get to close relations in the foreign policy screen by trading with and generally being nice to the AIs, being of the same alignment helps too. Then if you're at close and have researched the Alliances technology, it will be available as an option in the diplomacy window while you are speaking to an alien.

ok but I can neeever get to close with the AI its really frustrating. Ive given players hoards of technology, had all +s with them on the report screen and STILL they're always stuck at friendly. Hell I've even had every single other AI as friendly and STILL no one as close. really reall frustrating.

You have to trade extensively with them. If they get most of their trade income from you, you should be able to get close. Incite war between them and their other trading partners if you have to

Ohhhhhhh. I didnt know that you had to research somthing to get it . Because i had the altarians and the terrains friendly with me and I was wondering why i couldnt make an alliance. Well thanks for the tips it really helped

Stalk their trade routes and blast their freighter/escort ships outta space. Haha, scum Torians, thats what happens when you get overextended trying to take over the entire galaxy. They actually came and begged for a peace treaty, even though they had twice as many ships as me.
