How is calculated planetary influence? What does mean the number in ( ) next to the planetary 'ip'? Are influence and influence points not the same thing?
I ask this because i tried to understand how was calculated each planets influence and still don't have a clue.
I launched a game with a custom race (no abilities, only the techs to build colony ships and federalist political party for some money). I build absolutely nothing and send some colony ships to colonise 3 other planets and watched how influence worked.
Homeworld was a class 10 planet, 5b population and started with 41 ip, When you place the mouse over the influence number it tells the detail of calculation, the problem is... it means nothing (to me at least).
so Homeworld (capital civ +25% infl.) class 10 with 5 b people tells me 41 ip (0.00) , then the info on the tooltip explains me:
influence = 41.25 from planet + 3 from population + 8 from improvements & misc. + 0 from your influence ability + 5 from your civilisation influence.
so must i understand that 41 ip = 41.25 +3 +8 +5 = 57.25?
I colonized 3 other worlds and waited until the 3 had 5b population (i never built a thing on any world or made any research),
here are the results:
second planet class 9, 5 b people -> 19 ip (0.00), tooltip says:
influence = 19.8 from planet + 3 from population + 1 from improvements & misc. + 0 from your influence ability + 7 from your civilisation influence.
third planet class 11, 5 b people -> 25 ip (0.00), tooltip says:
influence = 25.14 from planet + 3 from population + 1 from improvements & misc. + 0 from your influence ability + 7 from your civilisation influence.
fourth planet class 15, 5 b people -> 24 ip (0.00), tooltip says:
influence = 24.13 from planet + 3 from population + 1 from improvements & misc. + 0 from your influence ability + 7 from your civilisation influence.
I figured some things:
* seems that you earn +1 influence (influence point?) / roughly 2 billion people.
* "from improvements & misc.", seem to come in part from the buildings who modify influence on the planet (or the 25% influence for the capital).
* "from your influence ability" comes from your race abilities and political party.
* "from your civilisation influence" : well this i don't understand, it increases as you colonize planets, so as your influencial territory expands, so it seems each of your planets earn more influence the more your border expands.
* it appears that class does not affect influence of the planet (class 15 =24 ip, class 11 = 25 ip).
Well feel free to enlighten me as i don't like to elaborate strategies when i don't understand the numbers , in this case i'm blind
