Several things I have noticed so far. I have played as of yet all in about 12 hours (or more) and here are some poins:
- The fontsize is set way too high!
and this results in only a few items being displayed in GNN reports. Really, I'm not blind you know....and I suspect most other gamers aren't either
- On gigantic universe, late and midgame, the loading time of saves is EXCESSIVE. My system ain't too shabby, but that doesn't excuse loading times of 5+ minutes. I'm running it on... AMD64 3500+, 1GB Ram, nVidia 6800GT and a clean windows install without any special tweaks or settings.
- There doesn't appear to be an option to turn off autofocus. Usually I manually order my ships around and its quite annoying if the game automatically refocuses on some other idle ship which I don't care about
- The old galciv1 diplomacy is in place, with some new enhancements, but it is also inherts its flaws. For example, in one game, I was technologically very advanced, but had a relatively small fleet (but armed to and with the latest teeth). My opponent had a massive, but outdated millitary. Yet he kept making threats and all that, simply based on the 'millitary rating' but it doesn't seem to take into account 3 of my ships can wipe out 50 of his. This doesn't make sense... it should be incorporated in diplomacy
- Another obvious bug is that the game is just too addictive!!
- Other minor points I'm sure others have already pointed out
