Graphics Glitch

3d objects spinning out of control

Hi,

I have a problem with some graphics in the game. On the race selection screen the ship models will spin at high speeds, making them almost impossible to make out. When in the game on the planet detail screen the same problem occurs with the planet image (not really a total problem).

On the ship design screen the images of previously created ships display the spin behavior as well. When designing the ship all behaves as expected however.

On the galactic map, scrolling the map causes a jumping feelig followed by either blackness (just in the map area) or a spinning motion. If I click on the mini-map the screen repositions normally.

System Specs:
AMD 3800 64 X2
1 GB DDR2 Ram
Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT 256MB DDR3
SB Live 24
Windows XP Media Center

Everything has the latest drivers and patches installed. Anyone haev ideas how to fix this?

I wouldnt even be sure how to do that... or even if I want to.

I think it's related to the graphics card. After I installed the latest drivers the crazy spinning stopped (still had a funky galactic map) until i stopped and restarted the game. Then it was back.

search this forum a little more, I'm sure that i saw atleast 3 more posts like yours, all you have to do is to disable your second processor core, and it works nice, I'm also pretty sure that it will be fixed very soon with a patch...

can someone describe him how to easily disable second processor core, i don't have two-cores processor...

I did an initial look at the problem list and didn't see anything, I'll go through it in a little more detail. Thanks for letting me know there is something out there.

Here's a link to a driver update that may solve the problem, from the other thread.

For those of you with AMD dual core machines, AMD has a driver update that may address this problem: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (exe) 1.2.2.2

I have exactly the same problem.

4600 X2-64
7800 GTX
2GB Ram.

I'll give the core thing a shot when I get home from work, but to be honest I'm not happy that I had to search
the forum for half my lunch break when this could very well be stickied if its a standard problem affecting
all dual-core CPUs.

It's a known problem caused by dual-core CPUs, and affects other games as well (not just GC2).
