Is there a list of acceptable video cards available?

Hi
I have an ATI 9550 256 meg card will it run this game with FULL graphics on at the standard res? Also is there a list of G-Cards here that we can see I have some friends that would be interested and they have different cards than mine?

Your card should be fine.  Your friends can check their video card's manufacturer's website to see if their card will support DirectX 9.0c.  Older integrated Intel cards may have problems.

Er, like my Intel 82845G Graphics Controller?

Did I read something about the game checking everything out during the install and adjusting settings accordingly? That would be helpful, since my technical knowledge is rated somewhere just above that of a lemur.

I'm running a 128mb Radeon 9600xt with an Athlon64 3200+, and it stays solid at 70fps with 4xFSAA on, at my desktop resolution (1152x864)--the lowest I saw it go was 69.1fps. The same card, in a much lesser machine, couldn't even handle 1x acceptably. So really the rest of the machine is as much or more important for GC2, as it's really not all that graphically demanding by modern standards, it seems.

BTW: I was also able to make GC2 run, just barely playably, on a Celeron 667Mhz with a 32mb GeForce2. No textures and in permanent strategic map view, but it *did* run. Though I can't vouch for the turn processing time on anything more than a tiny map

So it sounds like the gaming I have played in Civilization 4 will not be a problem here. Good!!
I get very tired of turning down graphics or what ever and buying new hardware to "Keep Up". Kudos to the Stardock team!!!

LuXinhui, yours seems be new enough to work. I found a driver for it dated 6/28/05, so it probably supports Direct X 9.0c. You'll want to make sure that you get the newest driver. 

Go to www.intel.com, select support and downloads, click on on download center, and then enter in your graphic card. You might have to turn off anti-aliasing if you notice a poor framerate.
