Heh. Let's just say there's some bad BAD stuff coming.
Thank you so much for your kind words on the back story. I must admit I was a little nervous putting this out as I didn't know how people would react (Draginol is my other account, long story -- lots of different Stardock forums).
I would one day like to take the stories and flesh them out into full blown novels. I personally like the concept of flawed humans who are trying to do the right thing but having to deal with the Drengin and other warlike aliens who don't really understand that humans have been butchering each other for eons and are, unfortunately pretty good at it.
The Terran Alliance is like the highly trained special forces soldier who has come home after war, retired and is trying to live the quiet life in a small town making friends through good deeds and cooperation only to be acosted by some local small town bullies who don't realize that just because our hero is dressed in a business suit and is polite and gentle that he isn't capable of cracking skulls.
The main gotcha here is the Drengin. The Drengin get it. They see through the humans. And they are smart enough to see the threat in the humans. They too are very cunny and make a good counter balance.
Unfortunately for everyone, the Dread Lords are going to make a big mess of things and don't expect any sort of "We must put aside our differences and work together against the Dread Lords" because that cliche won't be happening here. It's just bad bad stuff. And there are worse things in store for the galaxy.
