Version 0.12[b] is my first, and after reading the other comments, I was pleased with several factors. I played for a couple hours without any crashes (well, I fell asleep in front of it, does that count as a crash?). The planet build screen chose another location each time I built or bought, although the algorithm for choosing the next spot often did not choose what I expected it to.
When I quit, the save went smoothly. This morning, I loaded the game and found a couple issues.
There was no ownership registering for any of the civilizations. No borders, no color on the minimap.
All my ships get a "The current position of this ship is out of range..." message, and I can't find anywhere on the map to send them. I suspect that this is actually a side-effect of the first problem.
When i alt-tab between the game and a web browser (since my memory for text isn't that good), I can't return to the game, it gives me an "Illegal call" error and exits. (This does not happen when I create a new game, only when I load the game.)
Other comments:
Ship building: Is it intended that multiple basic support modules can be added to a ship to increase the range?
Research: If a technology has no pre-requisite, the pre-requisite of the last viewed technology (that had one) is shown as being required.
That's all I can think of to pass on for now, nice work, so far.
Mark.
