On to the bugs. I'm going to include the bugs that seem to have been reported in full, operating under the theory that you can never have too much information, or a problem too clearly defined. Also, in the interests of saving space, I'm not going to post the err file for each bugged session. All bugs posted are recreatable, if anyone would like help recreating anything I'm documenting, please let me know.
Serious Bugs--ie: crashes:
-Loading a saved game will always cause a crash. Windows program debugger appears, no other error messages displayed.
-Beginning a new game inside the same session, ie: beginning a new game, quitting to the menu, beggining another new game, or beggining a game after retireing or winning, will cause a crash. All instances result in identical errors.
Error recieved:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected!
Program: ...s\Stardock\TotalGaming.net\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.
-Beginning a new game in a separate instance of the program while the game is already in play in the original instance, ie: opening the game up twice and starting both on new games. The error here is an overrun identical to the bug above.
On a side note, it may be a bug that you can have two instances of the game running simultaniously.
-Destroying a building that is in the process of building, or in the building queue. This will cause the game to quit immediately, no error messages. The item's position in the queue does not have any impact on the bug.
Non-critical bugs--those that do not cause game crashes:
-Double clicking on any "dead space" (that is, space that should normally do nothing when you click it) inside the Choose Your Opponents screen will cause the number of computer opponents you are facing to reduce by 1. This will reduce your opponents to a minimum of 1 and will not cycle around to 10 after you've reached 1 opponent.
-My homeworld, first planet, or whatever you wish to call it, is not given the name I chose during the Pick Your Race screen.
-Colonized worlds do not immediately rename on the main map. They keep their original name until an event regarding them has completed--such as completing a building project. They do, however, always have the correct name on the planet screen.
-The shipyard screen's "build" button is currently depreciated as the shipyard will build whatever you have selected regardless of clicking build.
-When deleting save files from the menu screen, the confirmation box for deletion, and the deletion itself will not occur until the main menu has been closed.
-Several text boxes have code showing.
Retire dialogue has "%s"
Event- Worthless Anomaly has "/n /n"
Event- Advancement in current tech research Anomaly has "/n /n"
That's all for now, I haven't had time to really look at the ship creation or the tech tree, or anything combat related. I'll have more when I get the time.
Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, Stardock Central uninstaller doesn't function properly if it's not located on the C drive.
