Dread Lord campaign on ToA ... tech missing

The campaign starts as the terrans, but the terrans (at least in the first two scenarios) have missing branch in their normal toa thech trees. I can't find "trade" tech, the only attack tech branch I have is "laser", the only defense tech branch I have is "armor" ...
Why?

The campaigns have intentionally handicapped research trees. As you move on, you will also notice that tech does not carry over between missions.
