All planets/ships are gone from main screen - zoomed out view only

Everything has been fine and then, today, when I loaded my game the planets and ships appear only as icons in the zoomed out view no matter what my zoom level?

Help!

In the options menu there is a setting that controls this. I think it varies depending on which game (DL, DA, TA) you are playing, but look for something like "tactical zoom level".
