Can anyone help? I can make a custom map easily enough with the editor, but the planets don't have the custom textures from the custom planets file. how can i tie the two together?
You cannot, sorry.
Why not? By replacing the default files of the textures he can set his own. For example, replace all the Breathable planet textures with a different set of pictures, so if he selects a planet as a Breathable/Habitable one, it will be the texture he selected.
If you do that, you'll have 20 Earths, 20 Altaria's, etc.
Though the lack of custom homeworld's in the editor really limits it's usefulness IMO. I'm not sure how such a feature got left out.
