Sadly, i haven't had much luck enforcing AIs to use the weapons & defenses designed into a template (since, it looks like that's the only ships they will build from) myself for XW custom styles... if anyone at SD knows the trick, i'd also use it.
Strangely, the components are showing up ON the ships while in the Yard but they aren't active somehow. Modules do work as they should though.
What we really need, in fact, is a ship style (for AIs or HPs, btw) that does use Core Ships as we define them and when the techs allow for proper activation of the variable elements... otherwise, i'll have to leave all meshes "empty" of engines, components, etc.
Unless i'm missing something else in how the code truly reacts to these modded files.
