Custom race: can't always build hypermatrix

When I use a custom race (with the respective tech tree, can't think of the name of the race it belongs to) with the tech tree that contains the hypermatrix, I can't always build it. I'm not sure if I'm just missing a precondition but with some games that I start, I can build it right away, and in other games it's not listed as a build option (same custom race), and I can't think of what might cause this. Any idea whether that's a problem/oversight on my part, or a real bug?

Hyperion Matrix is still a Galactic Achievement, which is why the AI is building it before you sometimes (should be all the time, really). The best solution I can recommend to you is that if you want to play the Thalan tree, leave the Thalans out.

I take it this means you're also not seeing galatic build notifications for GA/SP projects in TA?

This should really be fixed, though-it should probably be a Super Project. The same build limit would apply, but you and the AI would both be able to build it.

This also applies to the Arcean's Stellar Forge, the Altarian's Social Matrix, and the Torian's Aquatic Transport Station, albeit to somewhat lesser degrees. Additionally, it applies to both of the other Thalan-unique starting buildings, Temporal Entertainment and Economic Direction Unit.

The notification missing isn't the cause of the problem, it's another problem entirely. It's just the reason you weren't able to ascertain the why of the problem.

Quite often, the AI will rush build something like that. Since they go before you, any building bought on the first turn will not show a pop up, as they built it before your first turn began. Start a game of Battle of the Gods sometime, half the GAs and trade goods are built the first turn.

Willy, I've seen SP/GA/TG notifications missing (in 1.96, at least, haven't had a full 2.0 game yet) years into the game. Are you certain it's a first turn only issue?

It probably isn't a first-turn-only issue in the cases you've seen. But when the building is available on the first turn, it's a pretty safe bet.
