Freighters?...

Hello again from Greece.

Umm, i m feeling kinda bad for posting this, i m pretty sure there 's a post regarding to my question but the forum is HUGE and the "search" option...well it's not offering the greatest help.

Anyway, since i am a total n00b with this game, i decided to start it out with the DL campgain. As i was making progress with my civilization, i decided to start trading with the fellow Altarians. I did all the necesery research (Hyperdrive, Trade) build the trade center and when i checked in the shipyard to built some freighters i found out that there is no trade module. And that's cause i hadn't yet researched "Diplomacy and Trade", because there is NO such branch in the tech tree! I started a new game, sandbox i believe they call them, anyway a new one free of campaign storyline, and saw that there was a D&T branch. So, Diplomacy and Trade for New Game, no such branch for DL campaign?...

Am i doing something wrong here? plz help.

It's not you. The campaigns in this game use an altered tech tree, so it is very likely that trade simply doesn't exist in that mission. It may appear in later missions.

The campaigns can be rather difficult, what with the Dread Lords showing up with incredible ships. So I'd recommend getting some experience in sandbox games first.

Re searching the forums, you can get better results from a good web-based search engine that supports the site: parameter. Just type what you want in the search box and end with site:forums.galciv2.com, e.g.:

campaign "trade module" site:forums.galciv2.com

I've found that the Tech tree opens up and expands across the Campaigns. In DL many of the Techs only become available after the Dread Lords show up and quite often exterminate everything. But, don't give up apply what you learn and try agian. There's some really good and fun Campaigns in DL.

A couple of basic tips. Use the Tech expanded view when determining a strategy to follow. Also consider the info at the start of the Campaign when selecting abilities and Polical party.
