Major Unanswered question ?

What are the thalans trying to stop ?

they were not able to stop DL Bradley entering the pocket universe and becoming Draginol at the end of Dreadlords campaign. so what actually are they trying to stop ? I finished the Twilight Campaign and this was unanswered.

The Humans having destryed the Dreadlords can't simply beat the Drengin or the Korath. why are the Thalans here ?
or will we get to see all this in GalCiv3 ?

I was wondering myself why they did nothing but hang-out during the campaigns.
I'm guessing we are supposed to get more info in a later expansion/galciv3.
