A question About Buying Twilight Of The Arnor

I am games collector more than a player so having 'something in my hand' for my ToA money is more important to me than most.

I have established from these forums that there is NO new manual for TOA - just a new front cover (only) - so if you still have your PRINTED Gold Edition copy you have all there is FTB.

However, if you buy ToA on a CD what do we get for our money - a burnt CD-R or a properly pressed CD?. Can somebody confirm?.

Also, has somebody in The UK bought this yet?. What did it amount to 1) Overall and 2) in way of P & P? No offence but is Stardock really chartging $20-$23 just to send a disk (I get full blown wargames from California for this amount) and when the disk arrives is it still intact(?) as I have also read here about ToA disks being sent in just an envelope. I've had a disk turn up from Vermont years ago in just a paper sleeve/envelope and it was just a little bit broken

You will receive a "properly pressed" cd in a paper sleeve in a padded envelope. Mine arrived in pristine condition.

Frogboy is working on the new manual, and it *should* be released in the 2.0 update, IIRC.
Do you own a printer? Voila, printed manual.

$20 does seem expensive for mailing a single cd. I just checked the US Postal Service website, and I could send it to England for $1.94 via first-class mail. If I were to upgrade to priority mail (mine came priority mail), it would cost $22.80.

I live in the US, and can't comment on the time it takes to arrive, or the condition, but I'm sure that someone from your side of the pond will chime in at some point.

Why put up with the added expense and time? Download Impulse, and you can be playing in 30 minutes.

If you are a games collector, as I am (sorta) You look for a cool manual, and a sweet box for the game. You know, the extras that make us more weird than other gamers. When you order the CD you get neither a box nor a manual. You could always wait for 2.0 and have yourself a manual on printer paper lol!

So, the game is great, but I would recommend in your case to just get the digital version as you get NOTHING when ordering the CD except that little CD in a non-descript envelope. (I don't even think there's any artwork on the CD itself.)

The CD looks like any other gaming CD. The artwork mimics the (imaginary) TA box seen on this site. The elements are shifted a bit, but it is basically the same.

Trees are good. Cutting down a small forest and grinding it up for pulp just so you can have a box and a printed manual is not. Those days are over. Digital download is the wave of the future, and rightly so.

I'm in Spain, so I suppose "I'm your side of the pond" (nice expression I didn't know). Stardock send you a properly pressed CD in an paper envelope (no box, except the mail packet itself)
