Ship move preview no longer in the game??

I could have sworn that in previous versions of the game it "previewed" your move with a line so you knew how far you could get in the turn.  Now when I select a ship there's nothing, if I r-click and hold there is no preview.  And right clicking makes the ship move then deselects it??  Is this WAD?

I want to r-click hold to preview the move with a line conencting destination and ship- isn
t this how it used to work.  Then release the button to move.  Or simply right click to move without preview.

OMG you mean this was never in this game? Wow! I have such vivid memories of it working this way. LOL.

Well it would sure help a lot as a feedback. Or even a shrinking color-circle to denote range remaining.

So you mean something like the text under the destination giving weeks remaining, but instead a tooltip for when you have a ship selected?

Pretty much. Select a ship, then either hover over possible places to go and read the numbers plus see the path taken (sometimes critical to know), or have some sort of faded color circle beneath the ship showing possible 1 week destinations.

Exactly why I play with the grid ON.

Grid-by-grid movement, and being able to easily count the number of moves to an enemy ship/planet, is often very important.

I'm old enough to remember board games!

And I'm cranky enough to demand a *computer* do the *computing* for me. Let me worry about bigger things than counting squares.

Requesting may be more productive than demanding.

On the other hand, build a few econ starbases to increase your range to the full extent of the map.
That way, you won't have to worry about counting squares. And econ bases don't usually carry a negative response from the AI, as do military or influence bases.

You didn't get it. It's the movement per TURN that is important here, not the overall total range...

But, the total range prescribes the total moves per turn.

So if you you know your exact range, you will know your total moves needed.

Overall range equates to turns per move to the destination.
Or haven't you gotten that yet?

Wow you're a stubborn one with tongue-in-cheek insults to boot. Thanks.

You're completely off topic now. Total range has nothing to do with moves per turn. If your ships can go out to a certain maximum distance from your civ, this has nothing to do with how fast they get there if you plopped engines into them that make them move faster than the standard engine-less ships. or.. haven't you gotten that yet?

And what does anything you've mentioned yet have to do with a adding in a simple read-out that makes a graphical display (either numerically or by diminishing circle around the ship as you move it) which displays how far you can get in the current turn with that ship?

Nothing.

So... thanks for that... nothing.
