TA 1.96.027 - No Hyperion Matrix

Hi

I don't know if this is related but I just updated to TA 1.96.027, and now when I attempt to start a game using the Thalan tech tree, even though I select the proper tech to get the Hyperion Matrix, and it shows up in the game that I have the technology, the Hyperion Matrix is not an option for me to build on my initial planet, or anything I colonize after that. Please help?

Hyperion Matrix is a "one per galaxy" building - if you include the normal Thalans as an opponent, they will usually rush-buy it instantly at game start. I suspect this is what is happening - make sure you do not have another race using the Thalan tree in the opponent list, and you should be OK.

Just to note onto Mag's comment. Other races will have this same issue. Torians, Arceans, Terrans, Altarians... I somehow think one of their buildings though got changed to a Super Project...was it the Arceans?

It was happening on turn 1 when I started the game, but somehow I managed to fix it by fooling around with tech tree editor tool.

Actually never mind you were right. With the Thalans as a starting race, it is unavailable, but when I take them out is available. Was this changed from the previous update because I thought these things didn't go off limits until they were actually built?

The AI does it's social work while you are. Only their ship movement is done while the Turn button is grayed out. So while you are inundated with the trilogy of windows in starting a new game, the AI is building the Hyperion Matrix.

Even ship movement is done before your turn. The only way a turn based game functions is on, well, turns. Each AI gets a turn very similar to yours - and they go first. The player always goes last, as is readily apparent when you see AI ships that have expended their movement points while you are moving your ships. What you see while the turn is running is the AI taking their next turn. If your screen says turn 53, the AI has already done turn 53 and will do turn 54 when you hit the turn button.
