I'm working on wooing the Alterians and I can't seem to get my relations above 'Warm' even though I've given an economic and research treaties, my diplomatic techs, and even some money. Does it just take a long time or am I doing something wrong here?
Hmmm . . . without knowing exactly what it says for the pluses and minuses on your race relations, it'll be hard to define exactly what you need to do.
Some of the reasons they might not be so keen on you, however, are:
--Either your military is way stronger or way weaker than theirs. Either way, other races either look at you as a warmonger or a sissy for that.
--You might be friendly with another race they hate or are at war at.
--They might just think you're too big and aggressive.
--They might not like your ethical alignment. The Altarians are the hard-core sissy good guys of the game, so they are hard to woo if you're not 'good' either, and especially hard to snooker if you're evil.
--A couple of trade routes with a race will do wonders for your relations. If you're not currently trading with them, start doing so ASAP.
Anyway, that's just some ideas. If you want some more concrete ideas, remember what your pluses and minuses are next time you're in your game and let us know. We can be more specific that way.
