Fundamentalists!?

I have a problem that I was wondering if anyone could help me out with. Is there any way to disable the fundamentalists in this game? I know they are a mega event and that I can disable that feature, but I would prefer not to because I generally like the mega events... except the damn fundamentalists! Literally, on masochistic difficulty, my last 4 straight attempts at playing as an evil race have all failed due to the fundamentalist mega event. All 4 times, without fail, I made a couple of evil selections, the fundamentalist mega event happened, and they took over every single planet I owned and I lost. I think that is a bit ridiculous and makes evil not even worth playing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I love this game and have been working towards becoming good at it, but this one damn bug is just frustrating the hell out of me!!

Short version: Nope.

Long version: The mega events are either all or none.

And that's just how it should be. You shouldn't get to pick which of the mega events you want - they're supposed to be huge variables, and if you take out the variable (by editing which ones you can get and which ones you don't) it defeats the purpose.

If all else fails, play the cheaters way and as soon as it happens, open up the last save game from before it - they'll disappear and (usually) won't come back.

Hi!
Fundamentalists are not a mega event. They are just a cost of your civ going evil. AFAIK to get rid of them just disable minor races when creating a new game.

what does that event do? Never had it as far as I can tell and I always play evil.

They took over all your planets?
That's just bad luck, load up an autosave if you want to continue, you can also use this option to negate any unwanted event...

Yeah, autosave/quicksave often. You can revert to one of them if an event occurs that you don't like.

Huh? I swear they arrive like all the other minor civ events, like the Vegans.

I'm pretty sure the Vegans aren't a mega event, either. I know the Dread Lords are not a mega event.

As far as the Fundamentalists go, they seem to be linked to morale. I play all evil all the time, and haven't seen them since early DA. Keep your morale high and you shouldn't have that issue.
