Need advice for isolated start

I'm going to be restarting a game soon as the Yor, on the largest map setting, 9 opponents (only normal difficulty for now), with rare inhabitable planets/systems & tight clusters. I also have 8 minor races enabled. I'm just wondering how to survive when I do get that spot all the way in the opposite corner of the galaxy from everyone, if I have 0-1 minor races nearby to trade with and might, at best, have 3 planets starting out (including Iconia & Iconia V) available to me.

I'm aiming for a military victory, but the invasion line of techs would take a VERY long time to get early on, pretty much forcing me to ignore everything else which would probably put me at a severe disadvantage. I'm just curious how to stay in the green when trading options are very limited/non-existant until I can expand and at least begin conquering other civ's planets.

If you end up having a Minor Race nearby...trade them for all their worth; and then invade. You can't beat a Class 15 on a Rare Habitable setup

The Yor already have a strong soldiering bonus; so just research up through Marines to get the Training Center and you should be able to walk over most enemies.

Your homeworld has the most population early on; and prolly throughout most of the game; grab the Trade Tech and built the Econ capital on yer HW

Grab the MCC and double your income

Put your ability points into Morale, Economics; and whatever else you want
Tkae either Federalists or Universalists (my choice)

Set Rsch speed to Very Fast; the Invasion techs shouldn't take *that* long overall

The problem with the last two points is that he won't know to use them until after he's started the game and found he needs them.

Ooops. You just said - military victory when isolated. Uhhh... rethink that! For sure you will want to maximize your planets' output by building economy starbases. Researching speed techs and getting your colony ships out to a star cluster quickly could also be very essential. You may need to hunker down (and even slow down ships outside your influence with military starbases equipped with modules to slow up ships) and limp along to a technological victory. Of course, influence starbase for the Yor can also accomplish the same thing. I would recommend high diplomacy (so your lack in military might does not cause everyone to attack you). I would also recommend influence techs to take over planets through influence starbases rather than military might (it will be an additional benefit for you to have more influence, since your Super Isolationist ability slows down ships to 3 movement in your influence areas). For money, get the Trade techs going on routes that can remain fairly safe. If it is a LONG route, then great - worth lots of money (especially if you add economy starbases with trading outposts). If military you must go (hey - sometimes we just like to fight), then most of these recommendations also hold.
