Hi all!
I've downloaded the GalCiv II Gold demo and am a bit overwhelmed. I know, or at least I feel, I can get to really love this game but getting my ass handed back to me time and again is frustrating and not fun at all. My problem is I come from RTS (I did buy Sins and am completley hooked, kudos to Stardock on one of the best, deepest, most addictivley fun RTS games ever) and all the depth and options in GalCiv 2 seem to much for me.
I dont know where to start, what tech to investigate, where to go. Should I go for universal translator? Xenu technologies? Why? In RTS you just... you know amass riches, pump out units, weaken enemy, invade, repel, fortify base, invade and mop up. Here its a whole different game.
How do you guys think it out? Do you plan your tactics in advance? How much do you leave for improvisation? Have you memorized all the techs so you know exactly where to get from where?
Please give me some 4X advice.
